Everything you need to split with confidence

Frequently asked questions

New to case splits? Start here. Each answer is short, honest, and written for collectors—not lawyers.

General

What is SplitCrate?

SplitCrate is a blind box split service for collectors. Instead of buying a whole sealed case—or gambling on random individual boxes—you join a group buy and claim the specific confirmed figure you want. Once every slot is claimed, we buy the case, record the unboxing, and ship each figure to its collector. We currently split Pop Mart, Labubu, Sonny Angel, Crybaby, Skullpanda, Smiski, and other popular blind box series.

How is this different from buying a confirmed figure on eBay or Mercari?

Marketplace sellers set their own resale prices, which can include a sizable premium for popular confirmed figures. SplitCrate lets a group share the cost of a sealed case. You know the full price before claiming, and everyone in the split receives the same purchase receipt and unboxing record. Marketplace listings may offer faster availability, while a SplitCrate order has to wait for the group to fill first.

Is SplitCrate legit? How do I know this isn’t a scam?

We built transparency into every step. Payments are processed by Stripe, you can withdraw for a full refund before the case is purchased, and we email you when the status changes. We share the case purchase receipt with participants, record every unboxing, and provide USPS tracking. You can use a verified email account or sign in with Google, Microsoft, or GitHub. Passwords are securely hashed, and Cloudflare Turnstile plus rate limits protect account forms from automated abuse.

What brands and series do you offer?

Our selection changes with collector interest and case availability. Pop Mart series are a major focus—including Labubu, Crybaby, Skullpanda, Dimoo, and Molly. We also offer splits for Sonny Angel, Smiski, Finding Unicorn, Tokidoki, and other authentic blind box brands sourced from authorized US retailers. The open splits page always shows what is currently available—if you do not see your favorite series, you can request it and we'll set up a split when there is enough interest.

What is a blind box split?

A blind box split is when a group of collectors share the cost of a sealed case. Each person claims the specific confirmed figure they want before the case is bought. This way you avoid the randomness of buying individual boxes and the resale markup of buying confirmed figures on eBay or Mercari. SplitCrate handles the organizing, payment, unboxing, and shipping so you don't have to coordinate with strangers in Facebook groups or Discord.

How is a blind box split different from a group buy?

They are essentially the same thing. In blind box collector communities, people use terms like 'blind box split', 'case split', 'box split', and 'group buy' interchangeably. They all mean: a group of collectors share a sealed case so each person gets the specific figure they want at a fair share of the case cost.

How it works

How does a case split work, step by step?

First, we post a case and list its available figure slots. You sign in, pick an available figure, and pay the displayed total. Your payment holds the slot while other collectors join. When all required slots are filled, we purchase the sealed case. We then record the unboxing, identify and document each figure, pack it, and ship it with USPS tracking.

How long does it take for a case split to fill?

It depends on the series and collector demand. A popular split might fill quickly, while a niche series may take several weeks. Each split has a fill deadline so your claim will not wait forever. The split page and your dashboard show current progress, and we send status updates by email.

What happens if a split doesn’t fill?

If the split reaches its deadline without filling, we cancel it and process a full refund for every claim. The money goes back through Stripe to the original payment method. Stripe refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

Can I claim more than one figure in the same split?

Yes. As long as the figures are still available, you can claim more than one slot in the same split. Each slot is a separate claim and checkout, and each displayed total includes its own figure cost share, service fee, and shipping. Claim only the slots you are comfortable committing to once the case is purchased.

Payment and refunds

How do I pay?

Checkout is handled securely by Stripe. You can pay with a supported card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay when those wallet options are available on your device and browser. The total shown before checkout includes your case cost share, SplitCrate service fee, and US shipping—we do not add a surprise fee afterward.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, anytime before we purchase the sealed case. Withdraw the claim and we will issue a full refund through Stripe to your original payment method. After we purchase the case, change-of-mind refunds are no longer available. Our Refund Policy separately explains help for packages that are damaged or confirmed lost in transit.

What does “case purchased” mean, and why can’t I refund after that?

It means SplitCrate has placed and committed payment for the sealed case that the group filled. At that point, we cannot pull one figure out of the shared order or return it to a sealed case, so every claim becomes final. We email all participants as soon as the case is purchased, and your dashboard status changes too.

Why do you charge immediately instead of when the case is full?

Paying when you claim confirms that the slot is truly reserved and gives everyone a reliable view of the split’s progress. Card authorization holds are temporary and may expire before a split fills. Charging immediately avoids failed or expired holds later—and you still keep the option to withdraw for a full refund until we purchase the case.

Shipping

Where do you ship?

SplitCrate ships to US addresses only. Packages travel with USPS tracking, typically through USPS Ground Advantage—the current service that replaced the old First-Class Package Service. We do not offer international shipping right now.

How long does shipping take?

After your figure is packed and accepted by USPS, Ground Advantage typically takes about 2–5 business days within the contiguous United States. Alaska, Hawaii, holidays, weather, and carrier delays can add time. Remember that this delivery estimate starts after the split fills, we buy and receive the case, and we complete the recorded unboxing—not on the day you first claim a slot.

How are figures packaged?

We document each figure’s visible condition, protect it with an individual bag or wrap, and place it in a sturdy mailer or box with cushioning as needed. Included character cards and accessories stay with their matching figure. Every package gets a USPS tracking number, which we email to you when it ships.

Trust and authenticity

Are the figures authentic?

Yes. We source authentic sealed cases from the Pop Mart US official store, authorized US retailers, or StockX’s Verified Marketplace. We do not source cases from unknown or unverified sellers. Keep in mind that authentic figures can still have normal factory quality-control variation, such as small paint differences.

Where do you buy the cases from?

We buy from the Pop Mart US official store, authorized US retailers and distributors, or StockX when an appropriate verified case is available. The source can vary by series, availability, and price. Participants receive the purchase receipt, so you can see where their case came from.

Do you provide proof of purchase and an unboxing video?

We do. We share the purchase receipt with everyone in the split and record the opening of every case. The video creates a clear record of the sealed case, the figures inside, and any hidden-figure substitution. We also document the figures before packing and shipping them.

Rare and hidden figures

What happens if the case contains a hidden or secret figure?

A hidden figure usually replaces one regular figure rather than appearing as an extra. Every split page states its hidden-figure rules before you claim. Depending on that listing, the hidden figure may be sold separately, offered to participants first, randomly allocated, or handled another clearly stated way. The unboxing video records exactly what appeared in the case.

Can I specifically request the hidden figure?

Not unless the split page specifically offers that option. Hidden figures are never guaranteed to appear, and claiming the regular figure they might replace does not automatically give you the hidden one. Check the rules on that split before paying so you know exactly how a surprise secret will be handled.
